Abstract :
Glaucoma is the major reason that causes blindness today. It results in total loss of vision which is irreparable which makes it mandatory to detect it at early stages. This paper proposes a simple method to evaluate the Cup-to-Disc Ratio (CDR) of a retinal fundus image to screen it for Glaucoma. It is a contrasting feature taken up to check whether the subject is at risk for Glaucoma or not. The technique proposed applies simple morphological techniques to extract out CDR value and ultimately classify the subjects as suspected or normal. The proposed methodology achieved a detection accuracy of 80% and a classification accuracy of 95Sensitivity and 91% Specificity.
