  • Abstract
In this paper, a novel microstrip fed wideband monopole antenna is proposed for Wireless Communication and mobile devices. A simple rectangular patch is designed to operate at 900 MHz for supporting GSM. Moreover, two rectangular rings are designed to operate at 2.4 GHz. A circular slot is proposed in the ground plane for obtaining a band of 3.64.2 GHz. On futher details, concentric circles are made for minimising losses and improving Reflection Coefficient (S11) alongwith impedance bandwidth. The use of concentric circle improved the S11 at 5.1 GHz from -9 dB to -14 dB. Mathematical analysis for designing notches is addressed in this paper. The parametric stepwise analysis for obtaining final result is thoroughly examined. The fabricated antenna has dimensions of 50 x 60 x 1 mm3. In this work, the performance parameters of antenna such as Reflection Coefficient (S), Impedance Bandwidth, VSWR and Efficiency are seen. The antenna is simulated on Ansoft HFSS and hardware is tested on Agilent N9926A Fieldfox handheld Vector Network Analyser which has frequency range from 30 KHz to 14 GHz. Different plating such as gold, copper and tin is tried on same proposed design.
