Abstract
Data and its implications along with its availability are very crucial in the present system of globalized competitive business environment. Strategic decision making is very crucial to meet the challenges when the business is scattered globally. Most of the todays available data repositories for Decision Support Systems (DSS) like warehouses are centrally located and are used in the globalized market. Now all applications and computing facilities are distributed. This paper investigates design and development of distributed warehouses with a key emphasis on distribution of data schema. This provides a methodology for distributed warehouse design with vertical fragmentation of huge schema architecture. This also compares the performance of execution of On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) queries in different scenarios like centralized and in distributed environment using OLAP council APB-1 OLAP benchmark data set.
