Abstract :
This paper is an attempt to investigate the performance assessment of existing and some proposed solar photovoltaic (PV) array configurations. Based on the MATLAB/Simulink model of single diode solar cell, performance of PV array configurations such as total cross tied (TCT), hybrid SP-TCT and Su-Do-Ku puzzle pattern based configurations is assessed. The performance of all these configurations has been analyzed using P-V characteristics, power at global maximum power point (GMPP) and shading dispersion effect on maximum power point (MPP) for various shading patterns namely pattern-1, 2 and 3. Extensive simulations are carried out on these configurations for these shading patterns. The performances of these configurations are compared for these shading patterns. And the performance of Su-Do-Ku puzzle configurations is found superior.
