Abstract :
One of the significant constraints of sensor nodes is their limited battery power due to which they are prone to fail. The sensor nodes may also get damaged due to various natural hazards or other reasons. Due to these constraints the wireless sensor networks become unreliable. This paper proposes a distributed clustering approach with state-full architecture; a protocol, RS-HEED (Reliable, State-full Hybrid Energy Efficient Distributed clustering) for increasing the lifetime and reliability- of a network. RS-HEED periodically does clustering to select cluster heads on the basis of residual energy as primary parameter and communication cost as secondary parameter. RS-HEED b a query driven model and employs a connection setup phase to deliver data reliably from sensor node to base station.
