Broadband CPW fed elliptical slot backed elliptical microstrip antenna

Variations of Coplanar Waveguide fed elliptical patch microstrip antennas with elliptical slot ground plane in 4000 MHz frequency band is proposed. The first variation of elliptical shaped microstrip antenna yields impedance bandwidth of more than 117% that covers Wi-MAX and WLAN bands. Further another variation in which elliptical patch and elliptical slot ground plane rotated by 900 is proposed. The rotated configuration yields increased bandwidth of nearly 125%. The proposed configurations show broadside radiation pattern with a gain of more than 6 dBi over most of the bandwidth.
