Abstract :
A serial concatenation of Soft Output Viterbi Algorithm (SOVA) and a Viterbi detector is used in this paper to limit the complexity of Maximum Likelihood (ML) Detectors. This is applied in Joint-Track Detection of Two Dimensional Magnetic Recording (TDMR). The result presented here shows an 8-track jointly detected Shingled Magnetic Recording media information which was detected with the complexity of less than 4-track joint detection by using a serial concatenation of SOVA with Viterbi Detector.
