Abstract :
As everyone here undoubtedly knows, product reliability is a key parameter to the development of parts, products and systems. You only have to follow the headlines over the last few years, to see such huge reliability issues as the Takata airbag, the GM ignition switch, the launch failure of the SpaceX rocket, and the Boeing 787 batteries. These reliability issues cost significant amounts of money, and more importantly in some cases human lives.
