Abstract :
In the communication world, higher speed reliable data transmission is always required. For the higher bit rate and flexible bandwidth Optical Time Division Multiplexing (OTDM) network is one of the best network. The performance of OTDM is depends upon various factors like modulators, demodulators and amplifiers used in the networks. In this paper the simulation is carried out using the four channel OTDM system with data rate of 40 Gbps with the use of RZ and NRZ electrical pulses. The dispersion compensation is done by using Dispersion Compensating Fibers (DCF).The OTDM based optical optical link achieved maximum transmission distance of 343 km over single mode fiber and also dispersion compensation fiber with bit error rate of 1.39 × 10-31 and Q value of 11.60 with RZ, and bit error rate of 1.47 × 10-24 and Q value of 10.13 with NRZ respectively. This simulation work is done in optisystem 7.0 suite software.
