Abstract :
Fall detection of elderly individuals are gaining more attention today. The development of an automatic fall detection/alert system is described in this paper. The system acquires information relating fall of an elderly via a body sensor unit and transmit it to an android mobile phone. The developed android application collects the information from body sensor unit and automatic SMS facility is initiated to sent text messages. The developed algorithm alert family members, care taker or medical practitioner with a short message service (SMS) facility. The SMS also includes information regarding the location of fall, so that the person can be exactly found and saved. This will help facilitate the fast and efficient management of the encountered situation thus lead the way to early detection of falls events among the senior person in the home or community environments.
