Abstract :
Balanced antipodal Vivaldi antennas (BAVA) with several variations of corrugated edge are proposed and studied for ultra wide band applications. The proposed BAVA consist of three tapered slots with two dielectric substrates in stacking structure. The two tapered slots printed on the top and bottom sides of substrate are the ground planes. The tapered slot printed inserted between the two substrates is the radiator plane. The proposed BAVA is designed and analyzed for 2-20GHz frequency operation with VSWR of less than 2. In order to enhance antenna gain, corrugated edges can be added on the BAVA. Analysis for several variations of the corrugated edges are reported and discussed. They can be used for increasing antenna gain of 2dB while maintaining VSWR of less than 2.
