Abstract :
In this paper, the methods and reasoning used in the sizing of photovoltaic panels and battery banks for Aurizon´s trackside signalling and telecommunications systems are described in detail. While Aurizon has previously implemented grid connected and diesel generator connected solar power supplies for signalling sites, this marks the first implementation of fully autonomous solar power supply microgrid installations within the company.
