  • Abstract
This paper aims to observe the dynamic behavior of synchronous generators during symmetrical faults and load rejection occurrence. So, a new proposed simulation technique was developed to simulate the synchronous generator characteristics in one simulation block using MATLAB SIMULINK Program. This block is simple, easy to use and it completely describes the electrical characteristics of synchronous generator. As a results, it was found that, the three-phase short circuit current waveforms consist of; fundamental frequency component which decays during subtransient, transient, and steady-state period, and a unidirectional component which decays exponentially in several cycles. Furthermore, it was found that at the load rejection occurrence the electrical torque and currents immediately go to zero. Accordingly it was observed that the frequency and voltage were increased to a high value which reaches more than 80 Hertz for frequency and 2.0 per unit for voltage respectively.
