Abstract :
The huge increase of bandwidth demands leads telecommunication provider to enhance fiber network performance by improving channel multiplexing techniques and increasing spectral efficiency per channel. The most critical impairment of fiber networks is pulse dispersion that must be compensated to avoid data inter-symbol interference. Pulse dispersion can occur due to different travel speeds of wavelengths which is called chromatic dispersion. Also pulse dispersion may occur due to the difference in the propagation constants of a fiber which is called polarization mode dispersion (PMD). This paper investigates the performance of complex modulated data over spectral phase coded- Optical Code Division Multiple Access (SPC-OCDMA) channel. Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) and Recursive least squares (RLS) are applied to eliminate the impact of CD PMD. For low signal speed, our simulation results show that CMA achieves same steady state as RLS however with low complexity. For high baud rate signals such as 5 and 10Gbaud, RLS achieves 50% faster convergence rate in terms of number of symbols.
