Abstract :
In this paper, we present an extended study on our previous algorithm namely Spanning Multi-Tree Algorithm for Load Balancing (SMT-LB). SMT-LB aims to balance the load in multi-sink wireless sensor networks with heterogeneous traffic generating nodes. By applying our new proposed adjustment techniques, simulation results show that the basic SMT-LB is able to achieve longer network lifetime with lower end-to-end delay by deploying sink nodes at the center of both left and right edges. In addition, it also shows that our proposed adjustment techniques are feasible to be applied on other algorithms to boost their performance.
