Abstract :
The basic idea, the definition and types of wavelet transform are introduced in this paper, then its properties and Mallat algorithm are analysed. Four aspects of the application of wavelet transform in image processing are proposed (image denoising, image compression, image overlaying and image enhancement based on wavelet transform). The characteristics of four kinds of application are analyzed and the corresponding matlab simulation experiments are made. The conclusion is that the image processing based on wavelet transform has the advantages of rapid speed, convenient processing, high ratio compression and good de-noising effect. Finally, the further development of wavelet transform in image processing is proposed in this paper.
