Abstract
A dual-mode predictive flexible rotor control method is proposed here for active magnetic bearings (AMBs) with input constraints. The method is then proved to be capable of maximizing the allowable operation region of the constrained rotor-AMB system. Finally, experiments on a thirty-six ordered benchmark rotor-AMB system are conducted to show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed predictive control law. This method is expected to pave the way from theoretical investigation to practical implementation of rotor-AMB systems.
