Abstract :
Analysis of cylindrically layered medium using a novel approach employing the concept of propagator matrix is presented. The propagator matrix is used to transform boundary conditions at the innermost interface to the outer most layer-free space interface, which allows the determination of scattered fields due to an incident plane wave. The propagator matrix is at first calculated for each layer and then it is recursively applied to generate the propagator matrix for the complete layered system. This approach is expected to be computationally effective over the existing techniques like FEM, FDTD, MOM etc because once the matrix is constructed, it can be easily propagated over various layers with ease. The method can greatly simplify the computational complexity as the number of layers increase.
