Abstract
Energy detection is a well-known method for spectrum sensing in cognitive radio (CR) systems. Classical energy detection (CED) algorithm suffers from detection performance limitations under fading and shadowing scenarios. In this paper, we have investigated the performance gain of the energy detection based cooperative spectrum sensing in the generalized κ - μ fading channel using an improved algorithm, over that of the CED scheme.
