Abstract
In this paper, a novel flux-intensifying interior permanent-magnet motor (FI-IPM) with cost-effectiveness has been designed for applying to inverter-based air-conditioner refrigerant compressor. For satisfying both the load torque demand and the cost-effectiveness requirement, two kinds of tangentially magnetized PMs are employed by the proposed FI-IPM. One is the Dy-free MAGFINE to product main magnetic flux linkage; the other is the less sintered NdFeB is used to reduce magnetic flux leakage. Some ingenious flux barriers in rotor are designed to intensify the flux density and reduce the flux leakage. Experimental results have verified that the proposed motor with lower cost can exhibit the excellent performance characteristics, has the potential to become a driving motor of refrigerant compressor.
