Abstract
A switched reluctance motor (SRM) with a cylindrical shape rotor has been proposed for the reduction of the windage loss and the acoustic noise. In this paper, the evaluation of the offset structure of the proposed rotor is presented. When the offset of the rotor rib is increased, the mechanical robustness of the rotor ribs is slightly improved, although the additional windage loss and iron loss will be generated by the offset of the rotor ribs.
