Abstract
Many efforts have been made on research to increase the number of underrepresented students in engineering disciplines. In this project, we developed a complementary tool using mobile learning concepts and technologies to enhance students´ interests in the topic of embedded systems design; and promote self-efficacy in underrepresented students and increase their retentions in engineering topics. Through this tool, students learned the materials actively and gained hands-on experiences, which increased their interests in advanced topics. The ultimate goal of this project is to further enhance their self-efficacy and accumulate their confidences for underrepresented students to work on engineering majors.
