Abstract :
This paper is aimed to study the impact of Solar PV Rooftop posing on MEA distribution system. The simulation was made using the PSS/ADEPT program with the system parameters obtained from Geographical Information System (GIS). In the study, the maximum size of Solar PV plant that MEA feeders could accommodate in different locations was quantified; the reduction in distribution losses was evaluated. In addition, the change in short circuit current at the point of connection were also assessed. Upon the study, it was found that the increase in the short-circuit was not so significant the modification of protection scheme and recalculation of the relay setting may not be necessary. However, if the size of PV rooftop was optimally selected, it could reduce the distribution loss down to the minimum. The study results could serve as the basic evidence for developing the guideline for renewable plants, the Solar PV Rooftop in particular, connection the distribution grid in MEA.
