Abstract :
This paper presents a descriptive study based on an online simulator of computer skills for primary school teachers in northwest Mexico. It was developed in order to serve as a research instrument in a funded project by the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT) and Centro Regional de Formación Docente e Investigación Educativa del Estado de Sonora (CRFDIES). The system was developed in a Web environment so that would be answered by anyone connected to the Internet. It comprises 50 tasks organized by the following categories: word processor (13 activities), spreadsheet (15 activities), presentations (16 activities), file management (2 activities) and web browser (4 activities). It was followed a descriptive study based on analyses of categories. Results showed that the category with the higher difficulties was the one about spreadsheet tasks, where there were completed only an average of 67.9 activities on the online simulator.
