Abstract :
Albumin nanoparticles crosslinked with embelin, a natural benzoquinone derived from fruits of medicinal plant Embelia tsjeriam-cottam, have been developed by coacervation technique. This natural crosslinker with multiple therapeutic effects substitutes the conventional toxic crosslinker, glutaraldehyde yielding highly biocompatible albumin nanoparticles which can be used as a carrier vehicle for diagnostic and therapeutic agents.
