  • Abstract
    In this paper, we study the physical layer abstracting model for MIMO OFDM systems with iterative MMSE receiver. Unlike the abstracting model studied in the literature, we propose to use median variance transfer function to describe the decoder behaviour, where we introduced a new method to compute the symbol variance. The proposed physical layer abstraction model, requires only 2 variance transfer function, and they can further combined into a single variance transfer function, where conventional approach requires multiple large matrices to store modelling variables. This proposed physical layer abstraction model greatly reduced the complexity of the modelling process, as well as greatly reduced the required storage requirement. Monte Carlo simulations shows that the effectiveness and the accuracy of the proposed physical abstraction model.
