Abstract
In this paper, the tolerance of the brightness and the color distortions of stereoscopic images are discussed based on extensive experimental studies. We explore the tolerance of the brightness and distortions, including overall luminance difference, white clip level inconsistency, black clip level inconsistency, and color distortions, between left and right images. The experiment result demonstrates that overall luminance difference should be below 8%, white clip level inconsistency should be within 6%, black clip level inconsistency cannot be higher than 10%, and color distortions should not exceed 16°. We also conduct a comparison over these indices with previous studies from standards and research communities.
