Abstract
This paper presents a novel method for creating omnistereo images using longer focal lengths. The purpose of this study is to give the viewer with head mounted displays (HMD) or cardboard headsets a more cinematographic experience and to enable content creators to overcome present limitations in the aesthetics of virtual reality image recording. The presented method demonstrates the camera setup, the processing of mosaic images and the features required for the viewing device. The different sections are illustrated with examples from the experimental setups.
