Abstract :
Energy conservation is a great challenge for a country since the economic development is closely linked with the electric energy consumption. The aim of the study is to investigate the losses in low tension (LT) namely "Aggregate Transmission, distribution and Commercial (AT&C)" and quantified per cent of total energy. Also loading of transformers and power factor (pf) of feeders at receiving end are calculated with the actual power flow studies (suggested method) instead of secondary current measurement and comparison is made. Energy saving is suggested through optimization of transformer loading level, reactive power compensation at load end, strengthening of conductors, efficient loading of utility and optimizing the usage of the energy saving gadgets at utility. Energy efficiency of the industry is expressed as the reduction in specific energy consumption (SEC) that is derived from the relation between energy and production of the industry and SEC before and after implementation is compared.
