Abstract
Three-phase/ three-level nonregenerative VIENNA rectifiers have achieved rapid development recently in tele-communication devices, power supplies, and UPS systems. The VIENNA rectifier operates in continuous conduction mode (CCM) at full load, while in discontinuous conduction mode (DCM) with light load or reduced input inductance. This paper presents a dynamic model for the VIENNA rectifier operating both in CCM and DCM. Ac and dc-side equations are first established at steady state in CCM, dynamic model is then built up based on the generalized averaging method. A transformation into the synchronous rotating dqo frame is adopted to eliminate time-dependency of the model. The proposed model is then generalized to rectifiers operating in DCM under specific conditions. The validity of the proposed model is up to half of the switching frequency. Simulation test is set up to illustrate the accuracy of the proposed model.
