Abstract
The distribution of electrical AC power in industrial and urban residential grids relies highly on power transformers. A diminished power quality at transformer stations can have various effects on the proper operation. These effects are modelled and evaluated in this paper. Sources and general implications of power quality phenomena are presented. A suitable transformer model is derived and discussed in detail. Simulation results related to low power quality phenomena in power transformers are presented and general influences on both, the transformer operation and the transferred voltage signal are analyzed.
