Abstract :
Wind noise is one of the most significant issues for hearing aid users. In this paper, a contribution to this issue is made by using binaural phase and level difference. Most of sounds including speech signal have a directional information, that is, interaural phase difference (IPD) and level difference (ILD) are not varied if sound direction is fixed. However, wind noise have no directional information, that means IPD and ILD are random. In our algorithm, distorted frequency bands by wind noise are detected by using IPD and ILD, which obtained from observed binaural signal. The wind noise is cancelled by suppression of these distorted bands. Results show how this algorithm works and cancels the noise when wind noise exists.
