Abstract :
Achieving the maximum power is the main and important task in the PV applications. This paper presents a new Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) of Photovoltaic (PV) systems by means of Model Predictive Control (MPC) techniques. Due to natural changing behavior of solar energy, MPPT control technique of PV arrays is required to operate at maximum power point. The main contribution of this work is to obtain a maximum power tracker that works under rapid changes in solar radiation levels using trajectory-based predictive control strategies, the maximum power tracker keeps the system´s variables onto pre-calculated trajectories to obtain the best performance. A comparison between the proposed technique and the conventional method IncCond shows a significant improvement in PV system performance. Based on an optimization function, the MPPT control predicts the optimal duty cycle for a boost converter.
