Abstract :
Software services and products for the smart grid involving demand side management and appliance scheduling are still a vision rather than a common practice. Nevertheless, to be ready for such a vision and to fully enable the potentials of a smart grid in the near future, one needs to be able to design and test solutions today. This approach goes in the direction of adding and testing services and features of a smart grid energy system. To this end, we propose a realistic smart grid simulator based on accurate models and realistic data sources that work according to a service-based paradigm. In this perspective, two features/services are essential: dynamic pricing energy tariff mechanisms and precise energy forecast of the small-scale renewable-based production units dispersed in the distribution grid. In this paper, we propose models of the smart grid services and a service-oriented software architecture for the simulator.
