Abstract :
The paper designed and developed a monitoring and controlling system for deep-sea drilling geological samples which focused on real-time data acquisition, analysis and visualization, as well as providing a mobile office environment for scientists in deep sea survey. The system is composed of two parts: one is operation terminals on the board, designed to collect and analyze data as well as send controlling order to underwater drilling machine; the other one is drilling machine under water, designed to realize acquiring parameters and drilling operations. The two parts achieve real-time communication through the composite cable of optical fiber and electric power. The experimental result showed that this system could meet the requirement of real-time data acquisition, analysis and visualization very well with high data transmission speed, high stability, and it is obviously superior to the traditional monitoring and controlling system in a real environment.
