  • Abstract
Submarine video surveillance technology is one of the most important technologies in the field of submarine investigation and exploration. This technology has been developed for many years but the previous submarine video surveillance systems typically use analog camera and video server architecture. This not only reduces the resolution of the video but also affects the real-time performance of the video transmission. It is urgent to study High Definition (HD) Video System with high real-time performance. The submarine video surveillance system use underwater digital HD cameras and submarine lightings to collect the original videos or images. The Gbit Ethernet, fiber optic network and TCP/IP real-time transmission protocol are used to transmit deep-sea video data to the Deck Video Monitor Platform (DVMP). The DVMP can receive, display, store videos and sensor data, and control the cameras and lights, underwater sensors etc. The use of digital cameras and 1Gbps Ethernet communication architecture make it possible to achieve high quality videos and acquire high real-time performance. This submarine video surveillance system is designed to work in 6000m deep sea. Therefore, it is also necessary to design the proposed HD video surveillance system for deep-Sea biological exploration.
