Abstract :
This research aims to make an analysis from a socio-environmental approach to the process of relocating populations for the hydroelectric projects in Brazil, using as theoretical basis the electricity sector legislation about the socio-environmental component through history, specifically concerning the particular issue of population reallocation in the beginning, with important dates, such as in 1998 for RESEB and in 2003 year for the New Model of the Brazilian Electricity Sector. It also aims to create some maps to analyze variables of the dams socio-environmental observation database to characterize the projects in which there is data of the population affected or the destroyed properties termed as "in production" or "under construction". By means of this analysis, it was shown that the highest number of families who belong to the affected population of the projects that have this information is in the state of Pernambuco in a range of 4,043 to 36,000 families. It is important to note the improvement the relocation process had after experiences that formed the basis for making a complete analysis and include not only the negotiation of the surrounding buildings, but also working and living conditions, to avoid causing to the affected population many problems.
