Some considerations about LED technology in public lighting

In recent years the public lighting systems in Brazil have received investments to expand the access of the population to this service and raise its quality, with appropriate lighting levels and providing more comfort and safety to users of the public places. In addition, another motivation for these investments is in need of the use of increasingly efficient systems, providing a reduction in energy consumption when compared to old equipment installed. In this article were analyzed the Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology in various aspects in a way that it could be applied to street lighting installations replacing the use of the prevailing technology in use.
