Abstract :
Today, centrifugal microfluidic platforms are widely used in biomedical applications. Many diagnostic devices based on this technology are designed for blood analyzing and commercial "sample-to-answer" systems has found success in recent years. We present a novel centrifugal microfluidic platform for determination of Hematocrit level of the human whole blood for 4 different blood samples at the same time. The disc-based device is designed for all essential steps consist of sampling and metering of blood, plasma separation and determination of cells percentage from 100μL of blood sample within 15 minutes. Using presented disc we are able to measure Hct level during the sedimentation process using siphon valves. The analytical analysis of the device is proposed and the functional tests of the fabricated microfluidic disc are performed in follow which show expected function of the designed disc.
