Abstract :
Time domain synchronous orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) is a novel OFDM transmission scheme which utilizes time-domain sequences as the guard intervals and as the training sequences to enhance the overall data efficiency. By adopting turbo equalization and data-aided channel re-estimation, the MIMO TDS-OFDM system is applied to underwater acoustic (UWA) communications and achieves better error performance than zero-padded OFDM with comparable sizes of guard interval and pilots. The proposed MIMO TDS-OFDM scheme achieves high performance and high data efficiency, and keeps low complexity. Its performance is demonstrated by a simulation and an underwater pool experiment.
