Abstract :
In this paper, we propose the concept of a joint attention system using a facial image character called FaceCharacter that tracks an indicator light projected onto a screen. The user flashes this light onto the screen to highlight the focal area. We then present the developed prototype system. The system consists of a PC, projector, screen, USB camera, and laser pointer. Computer graphics of FaceCharacter is projected onto the screen through the projector. The position data of tracked-indicator light send to the PC through the USB camera. The effectiveness of the system is demonstrated by conducting a sensory evaluation experiment based on the analysis by synthesis of the gaze movement.
