Abstract :
Face detection has become a hot topic in the field of pattern recognition and computer vision. This paper proposed an improved spatial pattern clustering algorithm, each pixel in a color image will be taken as a pattern which implies not only its feature value but its spatial information. So, the clustering of all pixels of an image is converted to the clustering of the corresponding patterns. The a component was used to represent the color information of pixels. At the same time, geodesic distance was taken place of euclidean distance to represent the distance between the pixels in the feature space. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm can effectively detect the human face.
