Abstract
In this paper, oscillator strength and absorption cross-section of core-shell quantum dot (CSQD) with cubic geometry is computed for both normal and inverted structures. Intraband transitions between lowest three quantum states are considered to study optical properties along with the variation of structural parameters and incident radiation. Kane-type band nonparabolicity of first order is taken into account to study the shift of the oscillator strength and absorption cross-section than that obtained for parabolic overestimation. Result shows that both the properties decreases with increase of device dimension, and the change is more significant for inverted CSQD structure. Higher absorption cross-section is found for transition between lowest two states, and also when calculated for nonparabolic dispersion relation. Result plays significant role in designing CSQD based optical emitter/detector in higher wavelength range.
