Abstract :
Sophisticated loads require electric power of excellent quality. The research related in this article is about the electric power feeding a medium size Electron Accelerator, as well as Biotechnology, Nanotechnology and Bio Energy labs installed in Campinas, Brazil. Utility distribution line passes in places with great quantity of trees which causes faults during strong winds or rains, stopping the work of dozens of researchers. The total consumption of the complex is 3.5-4.0MW. The critical load is the Accelerator Ring that turns off the electron beam when there are small variations in voltage in periods greater than 6 cycles. To ensure reliability of supply of electric power and to reduce the high costs that occur at critical times charged by the public network was installed an Electric Plant of 5MVA with forecast for 7.5MVA. This paper reports the optimizations in order to meet the requirements of complex mainly Accelerator Ring.
