Abstract
This paper proposes a unified design methodology for ZCT and ZCZVT inverters presented in literature. It is based on the intrinsic dynamic restriction of the IGBT technology under Zero Current and Zero Voltage switching conditions. This way, the same switching conditions may be ensured for IGBT modules that employ ZCT and ZCZVT auxiliary circuits. It is very important to access the real benefits of each soft-switching technique and further to reach a fair comparison among than. In this paper, simulation results from a 1kW, 40kHz inverter leg demonstrate the theoretical analysis and validate the proposed design methodology.
