Abstract
Partial scan weighting algorithm provides a simple mathematical artifice that transforms the half-scan (HS1)/segment weights into helical weights and vice versa. It allows reconstruction from any set of projection larger or equal to the minimum required for half-scan reconstruction, up to a full rotation. Two major applications are described in this paper. In considering patient dose and image noise, the partial scan algorithm will be useful in cardiac imaging with constraints of continuous range of patient cardiac motion and the fixed number of scanner rotation speeds. Secondly, partial scan weighting allows fan-beam helical reconstruction for any pitch between HQ2 and HS modes without wasting patient dose or distorting the slice sensitivity profile
