Abstract
The paper presents a function approximation based voltage stability assessment. The function to be approximated is the mapping between the pre-disturbance state variables and the most critical post-disturbance voltage stability margin. The number of input variables is reduced by feature selection and extraction methods. The proposed approach is tested with the IEEE 118-bus test network. The results prove the ability of all models studied to approximate the voltage stability margin.
