Abstract
Noisy power busses in printed circuit boards can be a source of radiated emissions and can cause unreliable operation. Improper selection of decoupling capacitors can increase the impedance of the power bus and, as a result, cause an increase in its noise voltage. This paper describes a simple method for evaluating power busses and a procedure for selecting decoupling capacitors to minimize the noise on the system by lowering its output impedance
