Abstract :
One-dimensional perfectly matched layers (PML) are analyzed in view of the finite-difference approximation of Maxwell´s equations and special arrangement of electromagnetic fields in Yee´s cell. Its impedance, numerical dispersion and absorbing performance are studied respectively, and the validity to theoretical analysis is also presented through numerical simulations. The factors, which influence PML´s absorbing performance, are discussed and then are used to optimize its absorbing performance. The conclusions obtained can be extended to two- and three-dimensional perfectly matched layers
