Abstract
An S band octave bandwidth bandpass filter with loss compensation in 0.13 μm CMOS is presented. The minimum inductor filter topology is employed which is suitable for lumped element CMOS filters at low GHz frequencies. This filter benefits from the minimum number of inductors which results in less loss, smaller size, and lower cost. To further improve the filter performance, single-ended negative resistors are added to the filter to compensate for the loss. The fabricated filter has a 3 dB bandwidth of 60% from 2.1 GHz to 3.9 GHz. The minimum insertion loss is 2.4 dB. The filter noise figure, P1dB, and IIP3 are 7.3 dB, 11 dBm, and 25 dBm, respectively. The filter size including the pads is 0.924 mm2 and the total power consumption is 5.76 mW.
